Pellizotti looks like he’s in great form. I hope he keeps trying to get the pois jersey.

That little brown dog nearly caused riders to crash! How hard is it to restrain a pint-sized animal like that?!

It’s a big relief that the UCI has called off the radio ban for tomorrow. It’s dangerous route, besides, why should a rider lose the race because of a mechanical or a minor crash?

I think the radio makes the races safer, and the strategy more intriguing.

    Stage 13…

Terrible loss of Leipheimer due to a broken wrist. So disappointing for him, such a blow to the team.

Astana is a super-strong team, but they can’t spare Lepheimer. No team can afford to give up a rider, especially one like Levi, who could win the Tour in his own right, but is willing to ride for others, and keep his mind in the right place while doing it.

The comments on the Versus broadcast today were way off the mark, IMO. Conversation in their opening segment dismissed Leipheimer as Armstrong’s domestique and centered on how Armstrong was going to deal with his absence. The situation was seen as a blow to Armstrong and a plus for Contador–in fact, one commentator went so far as to say that Contador wouldn’t care about Leipheimer’s loss.

Have they forgotten the Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, the great teamwork and camaraderie between Alberto and Levi? The two riders have demonstrated this at many other races, as well. Class acts and true champions, both of them.

Commentators are paid to rattle on. They don’t always get it right–no problem, the personalities are entertaining and they command a huge amount of data that’s usually right on target.

In Tour 2009, however, Versus commentators must remember how influential they are in the USA. A less-biased approach would be more constructive. And a refraining from igniting controversy, then fanning the flames.

    Stage 14

Wasn’t this supposed to be another boring stage? What happened?!

    A lot…
